Through spending three works serving my community in the government's NCS scheme, I learnt a handful of new skills. Primarily, it enhanced my social skills, allowing me to branch out and develop as an individual by meeting people from many different backgrounds. In the first week of the programme, I experienced a residential trip with a cohort of strangers where I was able to meet new people and get involved in brilliant activities which stretched my abilities. These ranged from hiking, to climbing, to water sports. In the second and third week, I was involved in a group effort to give back to our community. We contacted various businesses to offer our assistance and ended up helping a local garden centre run their shop for a week as volunteers.
